Countdown to 2019 IUFB Kickoff: 95 Days (Demarcus Elliott)
/Written by Sammy Jacobs (@Hoosier_Huddle)
2019 Countdown - #95
Name – Demarcus Elliott
Position – Defensive Line (Sophomore)
Hometown – Garden City, Kansas (Garden City, H.S.)
Height – 6’4”
Weight – 300
The Hoosiers received a much-needed boost along the defensive line when they added JUCO transfer Demarcus Elliott earlier in May. Elliott went to Garden City Community College out of high school and put up good numbers and eventually landed an offer from the Hoosiers.
The Hoosiers defensive line depth took a hit due to the graduation of a handful of seniors and the transfer of Brandon Wilson. At six-foot-four and 300 pounds, Elliott brings in the size needed to be a factor in the Big Ten. He has good hand skills as well and is quick off the ball. In a recent interview with Peegs.com Elliott said that Mark Hagen, Indiana’s defensive line coach told him, “he really likes that I am well-rounded, and that I am fast enough to make a pass rush move and rush the QB and can stop the run with force as well.”
Elliott will have four years to play three and could have a chance to work his way up into the rotation if he has a good showing in fall camp.
"We are really excited about Demarcus joining our program," Allen said in a release earlier this month. "He brings us the size and mass we need along our defensive line. Demarcus has a high motor and is a high character young man that is going to do the little things that we need to help make our program special."
