 2019 Countdown - #52

Name – Davondre Love

Position – Offensive Line (Redshirt Senior)

Hometown – St. Louis, Missouri (Affton)

Height – 6’7”

Weight – 292

The 50’s are winding down and today we are featuring redshirt senior offensive lineman Davondre Love.

Love came to IU, as a highly-touted player who played both sides of the ball at Affton High School, as part of the 2014 recruiting class. Entering his fifth season with the Hoosiers, Love has only played in 17 games. He redshirted the 2015 season then played in three games as a redshirt freshman in 2016. He saw his most time on the field in 2017 when he played in 11 games. Love had a disappointing season in 2018 as he just action in just four games. Love has battled injuries since he has been at IU and it has robbed him of his potential.

Love participated fully in spring practice and looks to be a valuable piece to the puzzle for 2019. Head coach Tom Allen told reporters after an April practice that, “DaVondre Love has taken a lot of reps as a number two tackle.  We're trying to create depth for our guys. I think we kind of know what we've got in some of our older guys.”

The Hoosiers will need as much offensive line depth as they can get as they have to replace a handful of departures due to graduation. If Love can be a quality sub, it would go a very long way to getting the O-Line back to the level it was in 2015 under Kevin Wilson. Hopefully, Love can finally stay healthy enough to give the Hoosiers a full season of service.
