/Written by Sammy Jacobs (@Hoosier_Huddle)
2019 Countdown - #31
Name – Bryant Fitzgerald
Position – Defensive Back (RS Sophomore)
Hometown – Indianapolis, Indiana (Avon)
Height – 6’
Weight – 213
Hoosier fans finally got to see what Bryant Fitzgerald could do on the field in 2018 after he had to sit out the 2017 season. Fitzgerald led the team in interceptions with three, forced two fumbles and recovered another. He also made 31 tackles and had two tackles for a loss. Fitzgerald’s performance as a redshirt freshman earned him the Corby Davis Award as the team’s best back.
The task for Indiana defensive coordinator this season is to find a way to get Fitzgerald on the field with his best lineup. This spring Fitzgerald has worked on with the strength and conditioning staff to get his body right for the upcoming season.
“Last year I was bigger, more thicker lower body and upper body. Coach Ballou and Dr. Rhea really developed my body and made me slim down but still had muscle. It definitely translated and I feel great about it." Fitzgerald told reporters after the spring game.
2019 is a time for Fitzgerald to step into the spotlight full time and provide the Indiana secondary with another playmaker.
