BOOM! Hoosiers Land Indianapolis-Area DT LeShaun Minor

The defensive front needs to be a priority in the 2017 class for the Indiana Hoosiers and they took a big step in solidifying that area of need as Ben Davis High School prospect LeShaun Minor committed to IU. Minor, a 6’3”, 255-pound 3-star prospect from new defensive coordinator Tom Allen’s former school, is rated by 247Sports as the ninth-best prospect in the state of Indiana. Minor chose IU over offers from Iowa State, Minnesota, Illinois and Cincinnati and he’ll line up on the defensive front for new position coach Mark Hagen.

Minor is the sixth member of the 2017 recruiting class and he joins fellow Indianapolis-area defensive players Britt Beery (Carmel) and Tyler Fitzgerald (Avon) as Tom Allen and the Hoosiers look to bring in local talent to build up a perennially struggling defense. A scouting report from an analyst for Scout.com says that Minor is an “active, disruptive player who gives top effort. A solid athlete who can re-direct and chase down plays. Not a big guy for being an interior prospect right now, so must continue to add the weight and strength necessary to play inside at the next level.”

Minor's commitment bumps the Hoosiers' 2017 recruiting class to 68th nationally and 12th in the Big Ten
