2024 Countdown to IUFB Kickoff: 7 Days (Jacob Mangum-Farrar)
/Written By Nick Gonzales (@nrgonzales_)
The 2024 Hoosier Huddle Countdown to kickoff continues with 7 days until the start of the Hoosier’s football season! Every day, we take a look at players on the current roster and highlight their roles in the upcoming season. With only a week left for our countdown, today we are looking at another player who wears number 7, defensive lineman Jacob Mangum-Fararr.
Name: Jacob Mangum-Farrar
Hometown: Sugar Land, Texas (Kempner)
Position: Defensive Lineman
Year: Graduate +
Height/Weight: 6’5”/256 pounds
Social Media: Twitter: (@_jmf_8)
Mangum-Farrar is a spectacular player who will be helping out the defensive front seven this season. The four-star player showed how talented he is during the 2023 season where he recorded 62 total tackles, and 4 passes defended and he’s hungry for more this season.
Before playing for IU, Mangum-Farrar played 26 games with 11 starts over five seasons for the Stanford Cardinal. He appeared in four games during his initial season in 2018 and redshirted. He then appeared in two games in 2019 before suffering a season ending injury and missing the final 10 games and didn’t play during the 2020 season. In his final two seasons at Stanford (2021-22), he recorded 86 total tackles, 4 passes defended, a sack, and a forced fumble. He then took his talents to the transfer portal and landed in Bloomington in 2023.
He will play at the Stud position this season, which is a hybrid of a defensive end and linebacker. He is a monster on the field and shows his athleticism during every snap. Farrar will surely disrupt opposing offenses and throw a wrench in their gameplan. He said during spring practices that he’s still adjusting to defensive line (since he played linebacker in high school and while attending Stanford), but he is working as hard as he can to bulk up while also staying lean so he can be “worthy” to play at Stud.
“I didn’t think I produced the amount I could have last year,” Mangum-Farrar stated in an interview during spring practices.
In 2024, he plans to shred offenses and showcase his set of skills on the gridiron.
The Hoosier Huddle Countdown to Kickoff continues with Day 6 tomorrow!
