2024 Countdown to IUFB Kickoff: 63 Days (Jackson Wasserstrom)

Written by T.J. Inman

There are only nine Saturdays left before IUFB kicks off the 2024 season against FIU. On day 63 we look at wide receiver Jackson Wasserstrom from Westfield, Indiana.

Height: 5’11”

Weight: 173 pounds

Hometown: Westfield, IN (Westfield High School)

Class/Position: Redshirt Sophomore/Wide Receiver

Curt Cignetti and the Indiana Hoosiers added a plethora of talent at wide receiver as they prepare to completely change the offense in Bloomington under offensive coordinator Mike Shanahan. IU brought back Donaven McCulley from the transfer portal and then added proven playmakers Myles Price, Ke’Shawn Williams, Elijah Sarratt and Miles Cross from other programs. IU’s wide receiver room is as talented and as deep as it has been at any time in the modern era and that makes playing time prospects for a walk-on quite bleak. That does not mean redshirt sophomore Jackson Wasserstrom is not an important member of the program.

Jackson Wasserstrom is a 5’11” receiver from Westfield that joined the Indiana program during the 2022 season. He redshirted that season and then briefly appeared for the Hoosiers during the 2023 campaign. Wasserstrom was the co-offensive scout team player of the week for the Penn State game. He starred at Westfield High School and played both football and baseball for the Shamrocks. As a senior, Wasserstrom had 529 receiving yards and four touchdowns. He had interest from lower-level schools but opted to come to Indiana and join the program as a walk-on. He’ll have a very tough time cracking the rotation for Indiana and it would take multiple injuries to players ahead of him on the depth chart but IU is losing several players at the position to graduation after the 2024 season.
