2024 Countdown to IUFB Kickoff: 6 Days (Mikail Kamara)

Written By Ben Gillard

Welcome, Hoosier fans to the 2024 Hoosier Huddle Countdown! Over the next 100 days the Hoosier Huddle staff will feature every player on the 2024 roster in anticipation of the season opener on August 31st against the FIU Golden Panthers. Today, we look at Wake Forest and James Madison Transfers, Justice Ellison and Mikail Kamara.

# 6 – Mikail Kamara

Height: 6’1”

Weight: 265 pounds

Hometown: Ashburn, Virginia

High School: Stone Bridge

Class/Position: Redshirt Junior / Defensive Line

As one of the many transfers that followed Coach Cignetti and Coach Kuntz from James Madison, Mikail Kamara looks to make an impact on IU’s new-look D-Line. Kamara joins the Hoosiers after four years at James Madison.

A star for Coach Kuntz’s Dukes D-Line, he played in 23 games and started 22 for JMU. Kamara registered 82 total tackles, 26.5 tackles for loss, and 13.5 sacks. He looks to build upon the success of his junior season, where he finished third on the team with 53 tackles, 18.5 tackles for loss, and 7.5 sacks, earning him a second-team All-Sun Belt Conference selection.

A very consistent producer, Kamara recorded a tackle in every game he has played, and has a tackle for loss in 21 of his 23 career games. Kamara looks to continue his success with the Hoosiers, and with a couple years of eligibility left, he should be a key contributor on IU’s D-Line for years to come.
