2023 Countdown to IUFB Kickoff: 85 Days (DeQuece Carter)

Written by: Sammy Jacobs (@Hoosier_Huddle)

The 2023 edition of the Hoosier Huddle Countdown is officially underway! We are counting down from 100 to the beginning of the 2023 Indiana University football season. Each day, we will look at one (or two) players on the current Indiana football roster and highlight the player’s role in the upcoming season. Today we look at one of the transfers that could have a major impact for the Hoosiers, wide receiver, Dequece Carter.

Name: Dequece Carter

Hometown: Louisa, Virginia (Woodberry Forest School/Fordham University)

Position: Wide Receiver

Year: Red Shirt Senior

Height/Weight: 6’0”/195 pounds

Social Media: Twitter (@Dequece_Carter)

Carter comes to IU from Fordham via the transfer portal. At Fordham, Carter finished fourth all-time in Fordham history in touchdown receptions with and sits third all-time in receiving yardage (3,035) while closing his career eighth in receptions (176) in the Fordham record books. He also tied a Fordham single-game record with 14 receptions to become one of eight Fordham pass catchers to post a 200-yard receiving game (218 yards) against Colgate (11/19/22).

“Quece - he goes by Quece - is super, super productive, over 30 touchdowns, lots of yards, lots of catches.” Allen explained. “That's one thing you go, you take a guy, okay, let's go find a guy that has been highly, highly productive maybe at a smaller level but has that chip on his shoulder because he wants to prove he belongs with the big boys, and that's what he brings. He wants to come here and prove that he's a Big Ten guy and can make those same amount of plays.”

Carter was not in for spring practice, but should factor into the rotation either as a starter or in the two-deep at the very least.

The Hoosier Huddle Countdown to Kickoff rolls on with Day 84 tomorrow!
