The Hoosier Huddle countdown to kickoff marches on! For the 100 days leading up to kickoff, we at Hoosier Huddle will feature every player from the 2023 roster in anticipation of Indiana’s first game of the season against Ohio State in Bloomington. Today, we will highlight defensive lineman Patrick Lucas Jr.

Patrick Lucas Jr enters his second season with the Hoosiers after transferring from Ole Miss after the 2021 season. Lucas Jr is one of the biggest bodies along the defensive line, “some mass that we haven't had in the past,” as Tom Allen described him and fellow Ole Miss transfer LeDarrius Cox last fall.

Lucas was a solid addition to the interior of the defensive line last year, appearing in all 12 games and really rounding into form at the end of the season – his best game came in mid-November against Michigan State, where he piled up seven tackles. He now has 35 games of experience under his belt in both SEC and Big Ten play, which will make him a key figure on the line heading into the season.
