The Hoosier Huddle 100 day countdown might still be in its infancy, but that doesn’t mean that the countdown hasn’t found its stride. Today, we’re looking at Redshirt Freshman TE Aaron Steinfeldt.

Promising young tight end Aaron Steinfeldt knows Bloomington better than most. He knows the Hoosiers better than most. Steinfeltdt called Bloomington North High School his home for the last four years of his high school career, and now he’s into his second year on the Hoosiers’ roster. This year, however, may be his most important chance to make a difference.

With the likes of Peyton Hendershot and Matt Bjorson gone from last year, Steinfeldt has a clear path to the top of the depth chart. Obviously he’ll have to compete with the likes of AJ Barner, Ryan Barnes, and a few other guys that can make an impact, but this is Steinfeldt’s chance.

Steinfeldt’s high school career right up the road is nothing to scoff at either. Once a two-time all state, all-area, and first team all-conference selection, Steinfeldt’s career statistics are quite admirable. 1,444 yards and 12 touchdowns is good for second in school history.

Steinfeldt is a competitor and that is what playing multiple sports in high school taught him.

“Every sport I did in high school I tried to be the best that I could be. I tried to outwork the other player, team, the other pitcher or the other person I was guarding in basketball. It also shows the ceiling I have when I commit to football 24/7. My ceiling is pretty high and that is what the coaches have talked about. In high school I had this competitive nature in me and now I can focus just on football. I can focus just on the task at hand and just get stronger, quicker, better. I can focus on learning the game, the speed in college, and be a step ahead in a lot of ways from a competitive standpoint.” Steinfeldt said last summer.

Whatever Steinfeldt’s path with the Hoosiers may be, he certainly knows what success looks like.
