The Hoosier Huddle countdown to kickoff is two-thirds complete! Thirty-three days remain until Indiana’s first game of the season against Iowa in Kinnick Stadium. Today, we will highlight a member of the Hoosier defense, Connor Hole.
Connor Hole (Redshirt Freshman)
Hometown: Jamestown, Indiana
Height: 5’11”
Weight: 177 Pounds
Position: Defensive Back
Connor Hole played high school football at Western Boone High School before joining the Hoosiers as a walk-on in fall camp last season. Hole had quite the decorated high school career; he was a first team all-state and all-conference selection playing both wide receiver and defensive back. As a team captain and four-year starter, Hole led the Stars to back-to-back state championships (2018-19). He set the school record for punt return yardage (411) and returns (22) in a single season. On defense, he totaled 240 tackles, nine interceptions, 15 pass breakups, and 3 forced fumbles during his career. On the other side of the ball, he amassed 1,583 all purpose yards and 22 touchdowns, four by way of punt return. He received scholarship offers from Valparaiso University and Marian University, but ultimately decided to join Coach Allen and his staff as a preferred walk-on.
Connor did not see any game action in his first season with the Hoosiers, but he was named special teams scout team player of the week in the win against Michigan State. Hole’s tenacity in practice also earned him praise from Coach Allen the week before Michigan came to town.
“Some guys that just overall play hard in practice…Connor Hole… Guys just busting their tails for this team. Unselfish, living out L-E-O. Helping us get better every day. That is what it is going to take.”
Connor should continue to progress and provide valuable contributions to the scout team and on special teams this season. His one word for 2021 is Strive. Hole signed an NIL deal to become a Barstool Athlete during the offseason.
