Bryant Fitzgerald, 6’0”, 200, Avon, IN (Avon High School), Husky, 247Sports Composite Ranking: 3-star (85.25)

Kevin Wilson was unable to land as many high-profile in-state recruits as many would have liked but he was able to secure the commitment of Avon’s Bryant Fitzgerald. Fitzgerald held firm when Tom Allen became the new head coach and he officially became a member of the state school as he faxed in his Letter of Intent and signed to play for the Indiana Hoosiers.

Fitzgerald is ranked as the ninth-best prospect in the state of Indiana and he excelled at multiple positions while at Avon High School. He chose Indiana over Minnesota and West Virginia and is a 3-star prospect. Fitzgerald played outside linebacker, running back and returned kicks and punts while at Avon. He is a dynamic athlete and his frame and physicality make him a terrific candidate to play the Husky position in IU’s 4-2-5 defense.

“The program is on the rise and I don’t want to miss out,” Fitzgerald told the Indy Star upon committing. “They’re looking for the spot I play on defense and I’m the perfect fit for it.”

He’ll have plenty of competition for playing time. Marcelino Ball is expected to start after excelling as a true freshman and guys like Tony Fields, Ben Bach, Zeke Walker and Khalil Bryant will also push for snaps. That being said, Fitzgerald is a terrific addition and he could work his way into the rotation on defense and special teams very quickly.
