Wide Receiver Charlie Becker Brings a Fast Paced, Explosive Mindset to the Class of 2024

When the Indiana Hoosiers landed a commitment from Charlie Becker, a wide receiver from Nashville, Tennessee, they got a player who can add much needed speed and playmaking ability to the wide receiver room.

“Track has helped my football speed a lot, also I did high and long jump which made me a better athlete.” Becker told Hoosier Huddle.

Becker made 58 receptions for 694 yards and 15 touchdowns in 2022 and is a three-time state champion in the 110-meter hurdles, 300-meter hurdles, and 4x4 relay. Not bad for a high school football player taking up track to improve his football speed.

Becker also brings self confidence into the room as well.

“My style of play is a very fast paced explosive offense that when we get the ball we are going to score.” he said. “The biggest thing I will bring is my explosiveness and ability to win at the top.”

Becker recently made his visit to IU and came away impressed enough to commit.

“The biggest thing for me about the visit was the way (the team) treated each other and the respect they had.” Becker said.

He also mentioned his relationships built with head coach Tom Allen, offensive coordinator Walt Bell and wide receivers coach Anthony Tucker.

Becker is “looking forward to bringing wins to IU and meeting my teammates.” Becker added that “the two things I need to focus on is the top of my routes and crisping up my breaks.”

Becker will be a welcome addition to the receiving corps as he tries to add speed to the unit.
