The XFL kicked off on Saturday, February 8th, renewing an old idea with a modern twist. Eight professional teams were assembled to play a 10-week regular season. The final four teams play face off in a semifinal, followed by the championship game. The league is divided into two divisions with the Seattle Dragons, LA Wildcats, Dallas Renegades, and Houston Roughnecks making up the West. The New York Guardians, St. Louis Battlehawks, DC Defenders, and Tampa Bay Vipers round out the East. The Indiana Hoosiers have three former football players participating in the XFL. Former star wide receiver Simmie Cobbs plays for the DC Defenders. Cobbs recorded one catch for 14 yards as the Defenders defeated Seattle 31-19.
