SUDFELD ONE OF 15 CANDIDATES FOR UNITAS AWARD

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The initial Top 30 Watch List for the 2015 Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award® has been reduced to 15 of the country's top college quarterbacks and Indiana senior Nate Sudfeld is on that elite list.
 
Sudfeld, who is also a member of the Maxwell Award Watch List, is 87-of-147 (59.2 percent) for 1,277 yards with seven touchdowns, one interception and a 146.5 passing efficiency mark. He also has a pair of rushing scores.
 
The Modesto, Calif., native leads the Big Ten in yards per attempt (8.7, T-24th nationally), is tied for first with his one INT (T-7th), second in passing yards (23rd), passing yards per game (255.4, 31st), total offense (1,318, 27th), total offense per game (263.6, 35th) and TD-INT ratio, third in passing efficiency (36th) and tied for fourth in passing TDs.
 
One of the most decorated quarterbacks in program history, Sudfeld is second in completion percentage (60.3) and 300-yard games (6), fourth in passing touchdowns (41), fifth in passing yardage (5,583) and completions (433), and seventh in total offense (5,695) and attempts (718) on IU's career lists in just 30 career games (19 starts).
 
A player speaker at the 2015 Big Ten Kickoff Luncheon, Sudfeld went on a week-long service trip to Uganda during 2015 spring break. He traveled there with his family to visit construction on an orphanage representing Assist International, the humanitarian group that his grandparents founded in 1990. Sudfeld has also volunteered with the Boys & Girls Club, the Andrew Luck/IU Health Change The Play Program and Read Across America.
 
He is a semifinalist for the National Football Foundation's National Scholar-Athlete Award, a nominee for the Senior CLASS Award®, a member of the Wuerffel Trophy Watch List, and he was a nominee for the Allstate AFCA Good Works Team®,
 
Named after one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time and established in 1987, this prestigious award is presented annually at the end of each season to the nation's top college quarterback. Candidates must be a college senior or fourth-year junior on schedule to graduate with their class.

The Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award® will be presented at a ceremony on December 11, 2015 in Baltimore, Maryland. For the 2015 Golden Arm Award ceremony, The Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Educational Foundation, Inc. and Transamerica are happy to be returning to the Embassy Suites Baltimore Inner Harbor Hotel & The Grand.
 
Proceeds from the event help support the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Educational Foundation, which provides assistance to underprivileged and deserving student-athletes throughout Maryland and Kentucky.
