Earlier this week, the Indiana Hoosiers were dealt another unexpected blow in what has been a rough few weeks for the program. Budding star running back Sampson James entered his name in the transfer portal. The rising sophomore from Avon appeared in all 13 games during his freshman season, rushing for 275 yards with three touchdowns. Losing him would have been a major blow to the Indiana offense.

However, today brought some much needed good news as Matthew Weaver of Peegs.com first reported Sampson James had removed his name from transfer consideration and would be remaining with the Indiana Hoosiers. His return gives IU a real one-two punch that can be a foundation for new offensive coordinator Nick Sheridan and the Hoosiers attack.

James will compete and likely split carries with Stevie Scott while freshman Tim Baldwin and others look to add depth.
