The Indiana Hoosiers gained a commitment from Ohio quarterback Broc Lowry on Thursday evening and the three-star prospect said IU checked all of his boxes that he was looking for at the next level.

“They have first class facilities and can provide everything I need to succeed on the field and I love what Coach Allen is doing with their program and I think I am a perfect fit for that type of program.” Lowry told Hoosier Huddle in an interview.

According to QBHitlist, Lowry “Works well within the pocket as he uses his mobility to gain added space. Attacks the defense while seeking out big play opportunities downfield. He's plays well above the level of competition. A competitive player who attacks a defense every chance he gets.”

Lowry did compete in Ohio’s Elite11 quarterback camp and came away with an experience that helped him know where he stands.

“I got a great experience at the elite 11. I threw with a lot of high level guys in my class and got to see where I stack up against them.” Lowry said.

During his junior season at Canfield High School, Lowry completed 130-of-201 passes for 1,921 yards and 17 touchdowns. He also added 871 rushing yards and 13 touchdowns on the ground. He has earned all-state honors for his performance.

Lowry said he thinks he fits in well with IU offensive coordinator Walt Bell’s scheme. “Coach bell wants to run a very up tempo offense that has a QB that can keep the defense honest with his legs. I think I fit well in that type of system because I can process information quickly and use my legs.” Lowry explained.

Lowry will try and improve up his numbers as a senior at Canfield, but is also ready for the chance to play on the big stage of the Big Ten at IU.
