Florida defensive back Phillip Dunnam committed to the Hoosiers July 20th and he is already preparing for big things in the Big Ten. Dunnam was an under the radar recruit out of North Miami Beach Senior High School (Fl) and is excited to have Hoosier fans watch his development.

Being under the radar is tough for some prospects, but Dunnam thought it was pretty easy. “This process wasn’t tough at all to be honest.” Dunnam said. “Coach Jones told me he was looking for a guy like me to be on the IU defense as long as I come in and meet my standards.”

Dunnam is projected to play safety at IU who has a chance to have an impact with his versatility on defense. He said that “the development of the Florida players at IU really stood out to me” Dunnam said.

Dunnam was appreciative of how the Indiana coaching staff handled his recruitment.

“Most colleges go based off the 5 stars and all of that but for Coach to treat me like this without any of that means a lot.” Dunnam said.

Dunnam, even though a brand new Hoosier, has a message for IU fans.

“I want the fans to know and always remember I’m that guy, [and] ready to have fun and ball next year!” Dunnam exclaimed.

Fun is something that IU football has been all summer and the future looks even brighter as the Hoosiers hold the 18th ranked recruiting class for 2022.
