Newest Class of '24 Commit Khobie Martin Sees IU's Staff as Mentors

Written by Ethan Roberts

Khobie Martin, a former Miami of Ohio commit, reopened his commitment following receiving an offer from Indiana Sep. 14.

“I felt like there was some better opportunities out there,” Martin said. "Especially with the Indiana offer.”

Martin, 6-foot-0 200 pounds, committed to the Hoosiers just five days after reopening his commitment. He noted what made the Hoosiers’ program stand out from the rest.

“The coaches and their dedication to the program and the players,” Martin said. "I love talking to the coaches and feeling like I’m talking to a leader and mentor. It feels really good and makes me think of how they can make me not only a better football player but a better person too.”

He mentioned that he knows some of the players on the team that speak glowingly of the program.

Martin, through five games in his senior year, is averaging 153.6 yards per game and over 7 yards per carry. He already has 12 touchdowns this season. His most efficient game came against Noblesville (IN), where he tallied 17 carries for 164 yards.

While he is a consensus top-2 running back in the 2024 class in-state, he noted a big improvement in his game that didn’t involve the ball in his hands.

“I have improved the most on pass blocking this season,” Martin said. “It’s something that I was really trying to work on this past offseason.”

Martin and Fishers continue the season Friday against Franklin Central (IN), both teams currently sit at 4-2.

Martin is the first running back commit of the 2024 Hoosiers class and looks to provide needed depth as soon as next season for the Hoosiers.
