If you haven’t heard or seen the letter L E O around Indiana, then you have not been paying attention to the Hoosiers football program over the last four years. Indiana head coach Tom Allen came to Bloomington in 2016 to change the culture on defense as the defensive coordinator. The first thing he did was write ‘L E O’ on the white board. It stands for Love Each Other.

Allen is entering his fourth full season as the head coach of the Hoosiers and his culture and message of LEO has never meant more as tensions rise across the country over racial injustice. Allen has been on the front line of the response from Power Five head coaches, as he was one of the first, if not the very first Power Five head coach to speak out against racial injustice after the death of George Floyd while in police custody in Minneapolis last week. His first statement read: “My heart is broken by what is going on in our country. Racial injustice is wrong and it MUST be addressed!! I Believe we are to LOVE EACH OTHER! No matter one’s skin color. Love is a choice. Our prayers are with George Floyd’s family. John 15:12 #LEO

On Tuesday night Tom Allen tweeted a video that explains what his Love Each Other culture is all about and why it is a core value for the Indiana football program. You can view it below.
