Hoosier fans were glued to the TV on a late August Saturday, but instead of watching the 2020 Hoosiers, they were watching future Hoosier Jordyn Williams put on a show for Trinity Christian (TX) on ESPN as part of their High School Football Kickoff special. Trinity Christian blew out Knoxville Catholic (TX) 49-14.

Williams showed the football world why ESPN lists him as a four-star recruit as he officially had nine catches for 177 yards and a touchdown while earning Burger King Player of the Game.

Williams came into the game with three catches and 75 yards in the young 2020 season. After a 27-26 loss last week to Madison-Ridgeland Academy (MS) in week one, Williams and his teammates knew playing on ESPN was a tremendous opportunity.

“We knew that we had to execute and we knew our job and what we had to do to come out with the win” Williams told Hoosier Huddle after the game.

Trinity Christian has plenty of star power as Deion Sanders is the offensive coordinator and his son, Sheduer is the quarterback. Sheduer Sanders found Williams early and often on Saturday and Williams rewarded the offense with plenty of big plays.

“What worked for me is i continued running my routes even though i wasn’t getting the ball and that’s what opened me up” Williams explained after the game.

Williams’ most spectacular play came on a 26-yard touchdown pass where Sanders found him one-on-one down field and Williams went up and made an outstanding competitive catch.

“I knew i was 1-1 backside and me and Sheduer's connection just was crazy this game so he threw a ball that was perfect all i had to do was do what God gifted me with....and i made a great catch” Williams recalled of the touchdown catch.

Williams and Trinity Christian are currently 1-1 on the 2020 season and face off against Cornerstone Christian (1-0) in San Antonio next week.
