Indiana University Reaches Out in Support of Wake Forest

IU Athletics Release

Indiana University Athletics announced today that it reached out to Wake Forest University Athletics in an effort to share any information that could be pertinent to Wake Forest’s investigation into confidential football game preparation information being inappropriately shared with opponents prior to its contests.

IU just completed a two-game series with Wake Forest. In response to press accounts of the results of the Wake Forest investigation, Indiana University Athletics contacted its counterparts at Wake Forest on Wednesday morning (December 14th) to inquire whether they believed any of their confidential information was inappropriately provided to the IU Football program. Wake Forest advised IU that they did not have evidence that IU had been involved. Nonetheless, IU conducted its own internal review, which included interviews with every member of the current coaching staff and reviews of all pertinent and available email accounts. IU also reached out to all former coaches who were at IU during the relevant timeframe and received responses from all but one former assistant coach.

Consistent with the information provided by Wake Forest, IU’s internal review did not uncover evidence establishing that IU obtained confidential or inside information from Wake Forest personnel prior to IU’s two games with Wake Forest. IU Athletics Director Fred Glass today provided Wake Forest Athletics Director Ron Wellman details regarding the steps IU had taken to look into this matter. Athletic Director Wellman confirmed to Glass that Indiana University was not implicated in their investigation.  Glass expressed his support to Athletic Director Wellman and Wake Forest University on behalf of himself and IU.  Glass gave his ongoing commitment that he would share any pertinent information that IU may obtain.
