Indiana Quarterback Brendan Sorsby Will Enter the Transfer Portal

When Indiana announced the departure of head coach Tom Allen it was only a matter of time before current Hoosier players to announce their intentions to enter the transfer portal.

On Sunday evening, starting quarterback Brendan Sorsby decided that he would enter the portal in a post on X (formerly Twitter).

First and foremost I want to thank God for blessing me with the opportunity to play the sport I love. I would also like to thank Coach Allen, Coach Bell, Coach Carey and the rest of the Indiana coaching staff for giving me a chance to play for the Hoosiers.

I would also like to thank my teammates for pushing me to be my best every day in practice and believing in me.

After careful converversations with my family and God, I would like to announce that I am entering the transfer portal.

Sorsby won the starting job midseason and put together a campaign that had him as the projected starter heading into the 2024 season. Sorsby started seven games while playing in 10 for IU this season. He threw 15 touchdown passes which was the most in a single season since Peyton Ramsey threw 15 in 2018. He finished 1,587 passing yards, 276 yards rushing and 19 total touchdowns.

Indiana will enter the offseason with a quarterback room that returns redshirt freshman Tayven Jackson, freshman Broc Lowry and redshirt junior Dexter Williams. Jackson was the only one who played in a game this year.
