Cornerback Jamar Johnson decided to verbally commit to Tom Allen and the Indiana Hoosiers on Thursday evening. He made his announcement on Twitter saying:
"First off I would like to thank God for this wonderful opportunity, my beautiful mother and my family for the strong support throughout my whole life, and all of the coaches that have helped me become the athlete and man I am today. So with that being said, I would like to say that I will be playing football and furthering my education at (Indiana University) #GoHoosiers"
Johnson is a six-foot-two 185-pound prospect out of Riverview H.S. in Sarasota, FL. He played both safety and corner as well as returned punts in high school. He is another long strider who has deceptive speed. His ball skills are good for a corner and he is the kind of athlete Tom Allen could use on both defense and special teams. Fans can watch Johnson's highlights on HUDL.
Johnson's commitment bring's Indiana's 2018 class to 24 prospects (23 signed during the early signing period) and rated 44th nationally. Johnson is unrated by the major recruiting sites, however his offer list is quite impressive. He holds offers from 19 schools including Power Five programs Indiana, Iowa State, Purdue, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest and Washington State. Johnson made an official visit to Bloomington last weekend according to 247 Sports and was slated to visit Washington State tomorrow as of the time this was published.
