The Indiana Hoosiers lost to Ohio State on the field last Saturday but they landed a huge win on the recruiting trail. Four-star running back Sampson James, a 6’1” and 210-pound elite running back from Avon, visited Columbus for Saturday’s game and then decommitted from Ohio State on Sunday afternoon. The Indianapolis native has now pledged to join the Indiana Hoosiers. Sampson James joins a class that includes running back Ivory Winters and IU’s 2019 backfield will be well-stocked. Stevie Scott, Ronnie Walker and Cole Gest all return and James and Winters enter the fray.

The 4-star back is considered by some to be the top high school player in the state of Indiana and a top 200 player in the country according to 247 Sports Composite this season and he has rushed for more than 1,000 yards in only eight games this season. This is a massive coup for Tom Allen and his staff and the 2019 recruiting class continues to look extremely exciting. James is a terrific all-purpose back that will compete for playing time the moment he steps on campus. IU’s 2018 fate is still to be determined but there can be no doubting that the talent level is continuing to increase thanks to stellar recruiting on both sides of the ball.
