Hoosier Ticket Project to Send More Than 70 Big Brothers Big Sisters Kids to IU vs. Akron Game Saturday
/Hoosier Ticket Project Release
More than 77 kids ages K-12 are headed to Memorial Stadium for IU vs. Akron thanks to a partnership between Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) and the Hoosier Ticket Project. The 2nd Annual Weekend at the Rock event will host more than 180 people, including many who have never been to an IU football game.
“We are thrilled to have these kids, their mentors, and families join us Saturday, especially because for many this will be their first time experiencing game day at Memorial Stadium,” said Josh Bruick, Hoosier Ticket Project CEO. “Events like Weekend at the Rock are not possible without our generous and engaged donors and volunteers, like the Callahan Family and those who supported our recent Giving Blitz fundraiser.”
The event begins with a family-friendly tailgate at 3:30 p.m. All participants will receive a “Weekend at the Rock” T-shirt courtesy of The Indiana Shop, a Gameday Spirit Store. The BBBS mentees, mentors, families, and staff will receive complimentary tickets and head to Memorial Stadium to watch Indiana Football take on the Akron Zips. The group will include BBSS Bigs and Littles from South Central Indiana, Central Indiana, and Bartholomew County.
"It is the heart of our mission to inspire youth by giving them the opportunity to experience the IU campus and athletic events," said Amanda Pavelka, HTP's Director of Engagement. "Big Brothers Big Sisters changes the lives of children in need by pairing them with a mentor, and we are beyond thrilled to host them for a memorable Saturday at Memorial Stadium."
“Saturday is going to be so fun, for the kids, families and our volunteers," said Sarah Verschoor, HTP's Marketing Manager. "We'll have pizza (thank you, Pizza X!), giant Jenga, and, of course, cornhole for everyone to enjoy."
