We at Hoosier Huddle want to wish every one of our readers and their families a happy and safe Thanksgiving. Everyone has their own Thanksgiving traditions and many may have been put on hold this year due to the pandemic. In order to help bring people together virtually our writers have shared some of their favorite and least favorite things about Thanksgiving. Each writer has two things they are thankful for along with their favorite and most overrated dishes and their favorite tradition.

Sammy Jacobs

What I am thankful for:

1) I am thankful to be spending Thanksgiving with my wife Sarah, it’s our first Thanksgiving as a married couple.

2) I am thankful that I get to cover Indiana football with the best team of writers out there.

Favorite Thanksgiving Dish: Mashed potatoes with gravy

Overrated Dish: Yams with marshmallows

Favorite Tradition: The three ‘F’s’: Family, Food and Football

Two things you are thankful for - I'll do one football-related thing and one that is not...I am thankful for Tom Allen and the way he is building an IU football program to be proud of and excited about. Non-football...I am thankful for my best friend and my rock, my wife Amy along with my three kids.

Favorite Thanksgiving Food - Mashed potatoes covered with noodles

Overrated Food - Green bean casserole

Favorite Tradition - I have many more Christmas traditions than Thanksgiving ones...gathering with family and playing board games is the one we have for Thanksgiving.

Thankful For: 1) The health of my family, friends, and coworkers. 2) Tom Allen.

Favorite Thanksgiving Food: Twelve layered rainbow Jell-o.

Overrated Thanksgiving Food: Sweet potatoes.

Favorite Tradition: It can’t happen this year, but the gathering of the side of the family I see less frequently to eat Thanksgiving dinner and Black Friday shop together.

Here are two things I'm thankful for.

1. Obviously, the top 15 ranked Indiana Football Hoosiers have to be my #1.

2. Family is huge for me. I'm always thankful for my family, even if not all of us can be together this year. Hi mom and dad!

Favorite Thanksgiving food: Has to be mashed potatoes. Mashed potatoes always make up a good half of my plate in the first and second serving.

Overrated food: I'm going to catch a lot of flak for this one, but I know I'm right. Stuffing is perhaps the most overhyped, awful food included in a traditional Thanksgiving meal. They're just not good.

Favorite tradition: Every year since I've been alive, we've gotten most all of the 30 or so immediate family members from my Mom's side together. This year will be different, there's no way around that, but hopefully come next Thanksgiving we will be able to resume that tradition.

I’m thankful for spending Thanksgiving with my healthy family and my new nephew, Birch!

My favorite thanksgiving food is my momma’s famous pumpkin roll.

An overrated thanksgiving food is green bean casserole.

My family’s tradition is hosting thanksgiving dinner!

Amanda Pavelka

I’m thankful for: Tom Allen’s transformation of the IUFB culture, college sports in 2020 and BuffaLouie’s

Favorite Thanksgiving food: Pumpkin Pie

Overrated Thanksgiving Food: Green Bean Casserole and Stuffing

Favorite Tradition: Family, Football and Beer
