 There are just 97 days left until Hoosier football returns! #97 is currently not worn by an IU player so let’s take a look at a recent Hoosier starter that donned the number…Larry Black Jr.

 

Larry Black Jr. (past Hoosier)

 -Height: 6’2”

-Weight: 294 pounds

-Hometown: Cincinnati, Ohio

-Position: Defensive tackle

 Larry Black Jr. finished his career after the 2012 season. He graduated with a bachelor degree in recreational sport management and was one of the staples of the early Kevin Wilson-led Hoosier squads. Black Jr. came to Indiana after a distinguished high school career in Ohio. He started all 12 games as a freshman (2009) and finished the season with a spot on the Sporting News Freshman All-America squad.

After a frustrating sophomore season, Black emerged as a consistent force in 2011. He started all 12 games and tied for third on the team with 5.5 tackles for loss. His solid play continued during his senior season as he made 36 tackles and had four sacks. Larry Black Jr. finished his career with an impressive 127 tackles (55 solo) with 8 sacks and 27.5 tackles for loss. He appeared in all 48 games as a Hoosier with 40 starts throughout his career. Black signed with the Cincinnati Bengals as an undrafted free agent and is currently a free agent in the NFL.
