Hoosier Huddle is helping you countdown the days to the return of IU football by profiling a player each day as we march towards the season kick-off against Southern Illinois. Today, we take a look at #94, tight end Sean Damaska.
Sean Damaska
Height: 6’7”
Weight: 250 pounds
Hometown: Milton, Georgia
Year/Position: Redshirt Junior/Tight End
Sean Damaska is an interesting player and a very gifted athlete. How gifted? He is playing football at a B1G school despite not playing a second of the sport in high school. That’s right, Sean Damaska didn’t play football in high school. Despite the extreme popularity of the sport in the state of Georgia, Damaska chose to play basketball during his four-year high school career at Blessed Trinity Catholic School. He averaged 13 points and 8 rebounds and finished in his school’s all-time top 10 in both scoring and rebounding.
Damaska came to IU in 2012 and redshirted the 2012 season. He made his collegiate debut as a RS freshman against Indiana State but saw no further game action in 2013. In 2014, Damaska didn’t see any game action but he was named “scout team player of the week” after his performance leading up to the North Texas game (a blowout IU victory). Damaska’s hard work earned him a scholarship during the 2015 spring semester.
