There are now 91 days remaining until the Indiana Hoosiers kick-off the 2016 season in Miami against the Florida International Golden Panthers. Join us each day for each part of our 100-day countdown to the opener! Jacob Robinson of Westfield is wearing #91.

Jacob Robinson (sophomore)

-Height: 6’4”
-Weight: 277 pounds
-Hometown: Westfield, Indiana
-Position: Defensive End

Homegrown Hoosier, Jacob Robinson was one of very few true freshman to get playing time last season. But Robinson didn’t have just some playing time… he appeared in all thirteen games. Throughout the season he recorded five tackles, one for loss. He contributed in the Old Oaken Bucket win over Purdue with a career best of two stops. Now coming into the 2016 season, Robinson is expected to secure a starting position as a defensive end. However, there are other players who will be competing for starting positions at D-end as well.

Being the biggest and the most experienced player competing for defensive end, Robinson is guaranteed a starting position unless he doesn’t produce in summer training and fall camp. Other players he’s competing with include sophomores Joe Belden and Brandon Wilson, both of whom were redshirted last year but hold great potential, and incoming freshman, Allen Stallings. Robinson has had an extremely successful football career, even in high school where he was chosen as an IFCA Top 50 selection, Indiana Class 6-A All-State for two years, and a member of the Indianapolis Star Super Team and Team USA in the International Bowl. He also possesses great leadership qualities, being named a two-year captain at Westfield high school where he helped lead the team to the state title game. These leadership skills will be significant for the infamous struggling Hoosier defense. Robinson has potential to make a great impact on this team, both in the game of football and in life off the field.
