Countdown to Kickoff: 66 Days (Josh Pericht)
/Written By: Nick Holmes (@HoosierHolmes)
Can you feel it? It's getting closer with every passing moment. Now a third of the way through our countdown, we are just 66 days away from touchdowns, tackles, and tailgates. To continue our Countdown to Kickoff series we will take a look at number 66, Josh Pericht.
Pericht, a native of Orland Park, Illinois, the same town as offensive guard Dan Feeney, joined the Hoosiers as a walk-on during preseason camp in 2013. The 6-foot-2. 220 long snapper played his prep ball at Providence Catholic High School.
Pericht redshirted during his first year at Indiana and did not see any playing time last season, as the Hoosiers were able to call on Matt Dooley, who was entering his fourth year playing the position.
Future Outlook
With the graduation of Dooley, the Hoosiers will be need to find a new long snapper and Pericht looks to be in contention for the spot along with redshirt freshman Nolan Guedel, the team's only two players at the position currently on the roster.
