Time flies doesn’t it? It seems just like yesterday that we started our countdown to kickoff. We are now at 18 days to go until the Sept. 5th game against Southern Illinois. Two Hoosiers currently wear the number: Quarterback Danny Cameron and defensive back Noel Padmore.
Danny Cameron
- Ht/Wt: 6-1/204 lbs.
- Position: Quarterback
- Year: RS Freshman
- Hometown: Baton Rouge, La.
- The Cameron name will be familiar to Hoosier fans of a certain age. Danny is the son of former Hoosiers player and head coach Cam Cameron. At Catholic High School he played both ways as a quarterback and defensive back, while leading his team to the 2013 district title.
Cameron redshirted his first season in Bloomington and looks to be a solid lock at the number two QB behind Nate Sufeld for 2015. He may only be used in mop up duty however.
Noel Padmore
- Ht/Wt: 5-11/180lbs.
- Position: Defensive Back
- Year: RS Sophomore
- Hometown: Flowery Branch, Ga.
Padmore was a first team all-state, all-region, and all-area selection his senior season at Flowery Branch High School. He lettered in both track and field and football and was the 48th ranked cornerback coming out of high school by ESPN.com
Padmore redshirted his freshman season in 2013, but came back and played in eight games on special teams in 2014 and was named scout team player of the week against Maryland.
This season, with the entire turnover of the secondary, the Georgia native is in competition for one of the top four spots at corner. He started the spring game and was impressive during all of spring practice. The main concern with Padmore heading into the season is his size. At 180 lbs. it may be tough for him to help stop the run and play press coverage on bigger receivers.
