2022 Countdown to IUFB Kickoff: 7 Days Part II (Christopher Keys)

Written by: Zach Greene

Welcome, Hoosiers fans to the 2022 Hoosier Huddle Countdown! We countdown from 100 days to the beginning of the 2022 Indiana University football season on September 2nd against the Fighting Illini. Every day, we look at players on the current roster and highlight the players' roles in the upcoming season. Today we look at Defensive Back Christopher Keys.

Name: Christopher Keys

Hometown: Collins, Mississippi

Position: Defensive Back

Year: Redshirt Sophomore

Height/Weight: 6-0/ 183

A Defensive Back in the 2020 class, Keys committed to the Hoosiers after receiving little interest from other power 5 schools and decided to bet on himself. He has seen the field and coaches like the work ethic from the young man. His first season in the program 2020, he appeared in multiple games including the Outback Bowl. Last season, Keys got reps in two games before suffering a season-ending ACL injury.
Playing in the deepest position in the program, Keys had been getting great help from his teammates and All-Big Ten Corner Taiwan Mullen. I expect him to be a vital player these next coming seasons. You can bet that he will be ready when needed this season and most likely a starter the following seasons.

Out of Collins High School, Keys was a dual-sports athlete who played football and track and field. He was very impressive at turning the ball over as well as punt returning. He served as his team’s primary punt returner. This season, expect Keys to be behind the main guys at the Corner position but he will get playing time late in games and if there are injuries.
