Countdown to 2020 IUFB Kickoff: 92 Days Part 2 (Chase Wyatt)
/Written by: TJ Inman (@TJHoosierHuddle)
The 2020 version of the Hoosier Huddle Countdown is underway! We are chugging along and today gives you a double dose of profiles with two different number 92s on this year’s roster: Next up punter Chase Wyatt
Name – Chase Wyatt
Position – Punter
Hometown – Redshirt Sophomore from Noblesville, Indiana
Height – 5’11”
Weight – 200 pounds
A redshirt sophomore from Noblesville in Hamilton County, Indiana, Chase Wyatt joined the IU football program as a walk-on prior to the 2019 season. Wyatt punted at Noblesville High School, averaging 37.9 yards per punt during his career. He was more than just a punter, lettering in soccer and track and field for the Millers (for those outside of Indiana, this is the somewhat odd mascot name for Noblesville High School). More impressively, Wyatt is more than just an athlete as he served as a member of the team’s Leadership Council and was a student leader on two mission trips for Grace Church.
Wyatt did not see any game action during the 2019 season and he is firmly behind veteran Haydon Whitehead on the depth chart for 2020. His competition for practice squad reps comes in the form of fellow walk-on Asher King and it will be interesting to see if either of those two can compete for the starting position after Whitehead exhausts his eligibility at the end of this coming season.
