Countdown to 2020 IUFB Kickoff: 58 Days (Andy Buttrell)

Until notified otherwise, the Hoosier Huddle Countdown to Kickoff will continue as the Hoosiers are still scheduled to start the season on September 4th against Wisconsin. We are 58 days away from kickoff and today we look at one of the newest members of the Hoosiers Andy Buttrell
Name – Andy Buttrell
Position – Offensive Line
Year/Hometown – Freshman from Argyle, Texas
Height – 6’5.5”
Weight – 298 pounds
Andy Buttrell announced earlier this summer that he will be walking on to both the IU football and track teams this fall. Don’t be fooled by the walk-on label though, Buttrell is listed as a three-star offensive line prospect and his coming to Indiana does wonders for offensive line depth, while also not taking up a scholarship. He was committed to play for Fordham (FCS), before deciding to come to IU.
Playing two sports is difficult, but Buttrell is up to the challenge as he will “balance both by working hard and not getting distracted putting my eyes on the prize and not looking towards anything else.”
While he may not have an immediate impact of Saturday’s Buttrell can redshirt 2020 and work on developing into a Big Ten lineman. It’s a low risk, high reward opportunity for IU because if Buttrell can crack the rotation later in his career, IU comes out a winner.
