/Written by Evan McShane
The Hoosier Huddle Countdown approaches the end of July and we are another day closer to watching football. Today we’ll take a look at a promising young defensive lineman, Beau Robbins.
Name – Beau Robbins
Position – Defensive Line
Year/Hometown – Redshirt Freshman from Carmel, IN
Height – 6’5”
Weight – 247lbs
Beau Robbins is entering his redshirt freshman season after appearing in IU’s wins over Eastern Illinois and Purdue last year. Coach Tom Allen, defensive-minded as always, prioritized Robbins out of Carmel High School. The Indiana-born defensive lineman had a highly decorated high school career.
Robbins was a consensus four-star prospect per ESPN, Rivals, and 247Sports. He was ranked as a top-5 player in Indiana, top-30 defensive end nationally, and top-300 player overall. During his senior year, Robbins racked up 82 tackles and six sacks. During Robbins’ tenure as a three-year starter, Carmel wont a state title in 2016 and were state runner-up in 2018.
Robbins earned scout team player of the week during prep for Ohio State. Despite his limited game experience as a true freshman, he made an impact on the practice squad. He has hopes to emerge as a major contributor on the defensive line these next four years. Now having been immersed in a college weight training program for over a year, Robbins could be ready to take that step in 2020. Whatever he has in store, Hoosier fans are ready to see what Beau Robbins can bring to the table on Saturdays.
