Welcome back to the Hoosier Huddle annual countdown as we inch closer to the glorious beginning of the college football season. Today we’ll take a look at defensive back Dekaleb Thomas.

Name – DeKaleb Thomas

Position – Defensive Back

Year/Hometown – Redshirt Sophomore from Jeffersonville, IN (Trinity HS)

Height – 6’0”

Weight – 183 lbs

DeKaleb Thomas joined the Indiana football program in the fall of 2019 as a walk-on. Thomas did not see any game action during the season, but he made an impact on the practice field. Thomas earned scout team player of the week in preparation for Indiana’s eventual win on the road against Nebraska.

A late bloomer, Thomas didn’t begin playing football until his senior year at Trinity High School in Louisville. Immediately he found success, helping his team go undefeated and win the state championship. Thomas is a versatile athlete, as one has to be to play cornerback. The young DB lettered in basketball and track & field in high school.

Thomas hopes to see the field during the 2020 campaign and continue to work on his craft. Regardless of whether he’s ready to make an impact on Saturdays, Thomas will provide depth and continue to make an impact on the practice squad.
