Countdown to 2020 IUFB Kickoff: 29 Days (Christopher Keys)
/Written by Evan McShane
The Hoosier Huddle annual countdown chips away, now less than a month from the start of the season. Today we focus on a newcomer, defensive back Christopher Keys.
Name – Christopher Keys
Position – Defensive Back
Year/Hometown – Freshman from Collins, Mississippi (Collins HS)
Height – 6’0”
Weight – 175lbs
When Christopher Keys committed to the Hoosiers, Tom Allen and his staff were thrilled to get another speedster on defense. Keys came to Bloomington from Collins, Mississippi where he had a fruitful career as a defensive back and punt returner. Keys was selected to the All-Region Team as a junior and again as a senior.
Keys has always had a nose for the ball. In high school, he intercepted six passes and returned one for a touchdown. By his senior year 247Sports had Keys ranked as a top-50 cornerback in the nation and the 15th best prospect from the talent-rich state of Mississippi. The Hoosiers love multi-sport athletes and Keys is no exception, having lettered in track and field in high school.
Keys will have a chance to grow into his own. Cornerback could end up being a group with solid depth. Whether Keys redshirts his freshman year or carves out a role in the regular rotation, he’ll have ample opportunity to get some reps in 2020.
