Countdown to 2020 IUFB Kickoff: 12 Days (Rashawn Williams)

Getting ever closer to that magical day of kickoff, the Hoosier Huddle 100 day countdown chugs on. Today, we’re taking a look at freshman Rashawn Williams out of Detroit, Michigan.

Position - WR

Hometown - Detroit, Michigan - Martin Luther King HS

Height - 6’2

Weight - 200lbs

Williams comes to the Hoosiers in this strange 2020 season, and he is getting instantly praised. QB Michael Penix notes how good the young receiver has been before the season in camp, as well as fellow freshman WR Javon Swinton. “Our entire receiver corps has looked really good," Penix says. "We have some young guys like Javon Swinton who is doing really well on the outside and getting a lot of reps. Rashawn Williams is a good player, a quick guy who will be really good for our offense. 

Williams had quite the high school repertoire as well. An ESPN and Rivals four star prospect, the young WR made 34 receptions for 465 yards and five touchdowns his senior year. He was ranked the no. 3 overall prospect in Michigan and the no. 40 WR nationally by Rivals. 

Williams steps into a receiver corps laden with veteran leadership, no doubt. But there’s always a place for young talent such as Williams, especially in a season where the health of any player is never guaranteed.
