The Hoosier Huddle countdown to kickoff has begun! 75 days remain until the Hoosiers kickoff the 2020 season at Camp Randall Stadium against the Wisconsin Badgers. Today, we’ll highlight incoming freshman offensive lineman Luke Wiginton.
Luke Wiginton (Freshman)
Height: 6’5”
Weight: 289 Pounds
Hometown: Fort Wayne, Indiana
Position: Offensive Line
The hard-working Luke Wiginton has been soft-spoken with the media so far in his Indiana career, but that may be just what you need out of an offensive lineman. Wiginton comes from a winning culture at Bishop Dwenger High School. He won a state championship in 2018 and made it to the state semifinals in 2017 and 2019. The 3-star tackle prospect and number 9 ranked recruit in the state of Indiana will now get to work at the state’s school, and that’s all there is to say about it.
“It’s been great taking what I learned being a part of a winning culture in high school and applying it to whatever I can do to contribute here,” said Wiginton.
Wiginton enrolled early and participated in the four spring practices before the campus was shut down due to the coronavirus pandemic.
“Workouts are intense, but I love them because I know every day that you go in there, you’re going to get better and you’re working towards a greater goal that the team wants to accomplish.”
The offensive line projects to be filled out by more experienced players in Wiginton’s first year on campus, but his strength and conditioning development will be crucial to his playing time later in his career. Luke is a prime redshirt candidate for 2020.
