/Written by Evan McShane (@veryreasonable)
2019 Countdown - #77
Name – Caleb Jones
Position – Offensive Lineman (Redshirt Sophomore)
Hometown – Indianapolis, IN (Lawrence North)
Height – 6’8”
Weight – 360 pounds
Standing at 6-foot-8, 360-pounds, Caleb Jones is the biggest player. An intriguing prospect from Lawrence North High School in Indianapolis, Jones took a redshirt season his first year in Bloomington. A common theme, Jones also lettered in track and field and in basketball during his high school athletic career. Last year, as a redshirt freshman, Jones played in 11 games at tackle, proving to be a reliable member of the offensive line rotation.
Now a redshirt sophomore, Jones hopes to make an impact on the field equal to his stature. With a full college season under his belt, Jones is using this spring to fine-tune his game and physical condition. Ready to face the rigors of the Big Ten, Jones has a chance to step into a bigger role on the offensive line.
With three upperclassmen anchoring the offensive line, Indiana will need some of their young talent to provide depth. As is evident by the physical Big Ten style of play, a steady rotation of rested and healthy offensive linemen is vital to success. Hoosier fans should look for Jones to play primarily at right tackle, although he is versatile enough to play both sides of the ball. Will 2019 be a breakout year for Caleb Jones?
