2019 Countdown - #30

Name – Jordan Jusevitch

Position – Defensive Back (Redshirt Freshman)

Hometown – Lowell, IN (Lowell High School)

Height – 6’1”

Weight – 202 pounds

The 2019 Hoosier Huddle Countdown began more than two months ago and we now have only 30 days remaining before the Indiana Hoosiers begin their 2019 season by battling the Ball State Cardinals. Today’s countdown article focuses on a redshirt freshman from the Hoosier State, Jordan Jusevitch.

Jordan Jusevitch played defensive back at Lowell High School and was one of the more successful and prolific players in the history of high school football in northern Indiana. He finished his career as a four-time first team all-conference honoree and as Lowell’s all-time leader in tackles and interceptions. For good measure, he added 937 rushing yards, 906 receiving and more than 1,000 return yards in his career along with 34 touchdowns. He finished in the top three in voting for the 2017 Indiana Mr. Football award (won by Reece Taylor) and led Lowell to four sectional titles, two regional titles and the 2017 4A state championship game. Jusevitch was a leader on and off the field as he became the first commit for the 2017 recruiting class.

IU has recruited a lot of talent in the secondary and Jusevitch did not see any playing time in 2018, redshirting and earning scout team player of the week once. At 6’1” and just north of 200 pounds, Jusevitch is a bit of a tweener. He’s probably not quite big enough to play linebacker, he’s not a cornerback and IU is loaded at safety and Husky. That does not mean he cannot or will not contribute though. Jordan Jusevitch projects as a special teams player in 2019 and there is a chance he sees the field at either safety or Husky (or both) early in the season. If he can perform well, he might earn his way into the rotation for the remainder of the season. If not, he is only a redshirt freshman and has plenty of time to make his mark in Bloomington.
