We are exactly two weeks, yes two weeks, away from the start of the Indiana football season. Today we look at both number 14s, Andre Brown Jr. and Jack Tuttle.

#14 – Andre Brown (Senior)

Height: 6’0”

Weight: 202 Pounds

Hometown: Decatur, Georgia

Position: Cornerback

Andre Brown has made a serious impact on the Hoosier football program since arriving on campus in 2015. Brown came to Bloomington from Decatur, Georgia where he played both defensive back and quarterback for Columbia High School. One at IU, Brown committed to cornerback. He played in nine games as a true freshman, starting in eight of them. Brown showed he can do a little bit of everything, recording 35 tackles, a forced fumble and a pass breakup. Unfortunately, Brown’s sophomore season was cut short by injury. He received a medical redshirt and made a full recovery the following year.

The past two seasons have been extremely productive for Brown, who has started in 29 of 32 possible games as a Hoosier. He started every game in 2018, racking up 29 tackles while leading the team in pass breakups with six. Brown improved as the season went on, and in 2019 he will look to lead by example. Entering his fifth and final season as a Hoosier, Andre Brown looks to cap off his career on a high note.

#14 – Jack Tuttle (Redshirt Freshman)

Height: 6’4”

Weight: 211 Pounds

Hometown: San Marcos, California

Position: Quarterback

Perhaps the most prized recruit of the most recent cycle came via transfer. Jack Tuttle, a highly touted quarterback prospect, transferred to Indiana from Utah last fall. By some measures, Tuttle might be the most prestigiously ranked recruit in Hoosier history. The strong-armed QB was ranked as the fourth best pro-style quarterback according to Rivals. Needless to say, Indiana’s quarterback room is in the best shape of recent memory with Peyton Ramsey and Mike Penix competing with Tuttle. While he’s listed as pro-style, it’s worth mentioning that Tuttle is a stellar athlete who may be as elusive as the other QB’s on the roster.

Indiana quarterbacks may enjoy the addition of offensive coordinator Kalen DeBoer more than any other position group. DeBoer’s plan is the throw the ball downfield, relentlessly attacked defenses in attempt to spread them thin. While the fundamentals of the offense will remain the same, an uptempo and balanced approach, DeBoer plans to inject some creativity into the unit. Tuttle fits the profile of the kind of quarterback DeBoer and the IU staff covets. He has good size at 6-foot-4 to go along with a strong frame. It’s unclear if Tuttle will be able to beat out Ramsey or Penix for the job, but he’ll have plenty of opportunities to earn snaps. Tuttle’s father, Jay, was a walk-on kicker at Indiana from 1986-1988 and his mother graduated from Indiana State University. Now, it’s Jack’s turn to call Bloomington home. Here he hopes to have a long, successful football career as a Hoosier.
