Countdown to Kickoff: 11 Days (#11 Antwaan Randle El)

Height: 5’10

Weight:185 lb

Hometown: Riverdale, Illinois

Year: Retired (still a freshman in our hearts)

Position: QB

Antwaan Randle El was quite possibly the most electrifying player for the Indiana Hoosiers of the early late 90’s and early 2000’s. Having to sit out his first year of eligibility, Randle El finally got his shot to show the Hoosier faithful what he could do with the ball in his hands. In Indiana’s 1998 season opener against the Western Michigan Broncos, Randle El completed the game with an unreal statline. 22-29 passing for 385 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions. Randle El also rush for 82 yards in that same game, smashing the freshman total offense record at 467 total yards in his first collegiate game.

Randle El would go on to tally 7,469 passing yards, 3,895 rushing yards and 92 touchdowns in his collegiate career. He finished sixth in Heisman voting for his senior year and declared for the NFL Draft.

After a successful NFL career, Randle El took a job at Virginia Academy in Ashburn, Virginia, a school he helped found. He did that for seven years until January 16, 2019, where he is currently on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers staff as an offensive assistant.
