Countdown to Kickoff 96 Days
Madison Norris
Height: 6’ 5’’
Weight: 200 pounds
Hometown: Fishers, Indiana
Year: Incoming Freshman
Position: Defensive End
The 100-day countdown continues with 96, incoming freshman and defensive end, Madison
Norris. Norris is coming out of Hamilton Southeastern in Fishers, Indiana ranked a three-star
prospect and #4 in the state by ESPN. He was named all-state by the Indiana Football Coaches
Association twice, and an all-county selection as well as an Indiana Mr. Football candidate.
Norris had fifteen offers including those from Bowling Green, Central Michigan, Cincinnati,
Louisville, Minnesota, Purdue, Rutgers and Tennessee amongst others and signed a letter of
intent to Indiana.
As a junior, Norris played in all 10 games tallying 67 tackles, 42 solo, averaging 6.7 tackles per
game, 2 sacks and 11 quarterback hurries. Halfway through his senior season, he suffered an
injury in a game where he broke his leg in three different places. This injury meant he only got
the opportunity to see time in six games during the season but he made an impact despite the
injury making 38 total tackles, 21 solo, 11 quarterback hurries, one caused fumble and one
fumble recovery.
Throughout his football career he has played in different positions from running back, to receiver
and finally stuck with defensive end. In an interview with IU Sports Media he said, “I don’t like taking hits, I like
delivering them,” which is why he prefers where he plays now.
In the same interview Norris said one of the main reasons he chose Indiana was because after
he suffered the leg injury, the coaches stuck by him and continued to show interest while other
schools stopped recruiting him. Coming into this program gives him ability to show all the other
schools the incredible athlete and player they missed out on.
Football isn’t the only sport in which Norris has made an impact. He played basketball and he
holds state records for track and field as well. He has the second all-time fasted 110m hurdle time in Hamilton Southeastern history at 14.01 seconds. This just shows you the type of athlete the
program has coming in. Once Coach Ballou and the weight staff get ahold of him and he bulks
up, he has the potential to dominate in the program and thrive on this type of defensive team.
With his size and speed, he is a weapon that the Hoosiers will look to develop and use.
