Countdown to IUFB Kickoff: 24 Days (Mike Majette and Owen Streiter)

#24

Mike Majette (Senior)

Height: 5’11”

Weight: 215 Pounds

Hometown: Woodbridge, VA (Woodbridge Senior)

Position: Running Back

Mike Majette has shown flashes of what he could be at the Big Ten level over the course of his first three seasons in Bloomington, however Majette has not been able to stay healthy during that time. Majette came to IU after putting up 2,106 all-purpose yards and 23 touchdowns as a senior at Woodbridge Senior H.S. During his freshman season Majette saw the field in 12 of 13 games and accumulated 225 total yards of offense and a touchdown. Between 2016 and 2017, Majette would play in just 13 games, gaining just 379 yards of offense with no touchdowns.

The addition of Coach David Ballou and Dr. Matt Rhea is supposed to help with soft tissue injury prevention. Should Majette be able to stay on the field, he can be a weapon out of the backfield. The senior works best in space and has shown to be good in the flat on scree passes. A move to wide receiver could be in the cards for Majette and could really spark his production. However, he NEEDS to stay healthy first.

Owen Streiter (Redshirt Freshman)

Height: 6’1”

Weight: 191 Pounds

Hometown: LaPorte, IN (LaPorte)

Position: Defensive Back

Streiter walked on to the Hoosier program during the 2017 season and redshirted. The LaPorte, Indiana native had an all-state caliber high school career at LaPorte where he finished with 276 career tackles and 14 interceptions. He has become one of Indiana’s most consistent practice players as he took home Scout Team Player of the Week honors twice last season.

Streiter had a fantastic spring practice as injuries and graduation led him to get lots of playing time before the reinforcements arrived in June. He was always around the ball and had several interceptions. Streiter could be rewarded for his efforts with playing time on special teams in 2018.
