Countdown to Kickoff: #10 – Donavan Hale
Height: 6’4”
Weight: 229 pounds
Hometown: Largo, FL (Largo)
Class/Position: RS Junior/WR
Donavan Hale has worn a few hats at IU. He was brought in to play quarterback in 2015 and ended up finding a home at receiver. During his freshman year in 2015, Hale made just one catch for 10 yards while appearing in 10 of IU’s 13 games.
His role expanded in 2016, but still was just a fringe contributor playing in 12 of 13 games. Hale made 13 catches for 210 yards and a touchdown. He flashed his big play potential that could make him the next great IU receiver. He also made a difference on special teams making two tackles and recovering a fumble.
The 2017 season started out promising for Hale as he impressed against Ohio State and Virginia combining for seven catches for 116 yards and a touchdown. However, his season ended prematurely as he suffered an injury just three games into the year.
Hale was limited in spring ball, but has been battling back in fall camp. He should be able to go once the season starts and could be one of IU’s starting receivers. His frame and athleticism make mouths water. The hope is Hale stays healthy and can be a main contributor to the offense.
EDITORS NOTE: Donavan Hale will wear number 6 this season
