Coaching Football is Bigger than Just the Game for Kasey Teegardin

The Indiana Hoosiers have been struggling throughout the season. They are currently sitting at 3-7 and lost their once strong chance to make a bowl game. However, there have been some bright spots in the season.
The special teams led by Kasey Teegardin have had a lot of bright spots throughout the season so far. Charles Campbell had a great game against Western Kentucky that ended up with a game winning kick in overtime.
"You look at the kick against Western Kentucky,” Teegardin said. “We lost yards and made the kick more difficult on Chuck.”
Campbell is one of the only kickers in the nation that has a four field goal game. He won the Lou Groza award following the Western Kentucky game.
“Overall his confidence level is kickoffs, We are using him more. He's accurate. He's done a tremendous job,” Teegardin said.
Teegardin was another one of the coaches that praised freshman Dasan McCullough for the freshman season that he has had so far. Teegardin praised his work off the field as much as he did on the field.
"His film study habits for a freshman are incredible,” Teegardin said.
Teegardin knew McCullough when he was a kid. Teegardin was a graduate assistant when Deland McCullough was on the coaching staff in the early 2010s.
"It comes down to trust. It comes back to the Pinstripe Bowl. I remember him being a little guy running around. I was a graduate assistant under his dad,” Teegardin said.
There was news that came out this morning that three Virginia football players were killed during a school shooting.
This news struck Teegardin hard and made him recollect what his goal is with coaching.
"I'm more concerned with the impact we make on these guys' lives," Teegardin said.
During warmups against Ohio State running back Trent Howland was warming up with the outside linebackers group.
"It's a position of need for us and he's a big, physical guy,” Teegardin said.
Teegardin will look to keep the special teams strong led by Campbell and James Evans and continue to help develop men on and off the field as the rocky season comes to a close.
