We are just over two weeks from the kickoff of Indiana’s 2020 opener against Penn State. With 16 days to go we take a look at redshirt freshman quarterback Grant Gremel, a walk on who joined the program in 2019.

Name – Grant Gremel

Position – Quarterback

Year/Hometown – Redshirt Freshman from Noblesville, IN (Noblesville)

Height – 6’3”

Weight – 199lbs

Gremel played at Noblesville High School and was teammates with current IU players Ryan Barnes, Cameron Knight and Chase Wyatt. He also lettered in basketball.

Gremel accepted a preferred walk-on spot in 2019 and told Peegs.com that “The biggest reason why I took it is because it just feels like home to me, I’ve been to IU countless amount of times in my four years of high school, so I am really familiar with the campus, the coaches, and the program. I have had a great relationship with the staff for a long time. I have known them since my freshman year and it just feels natural and feels like home to me.”

Gremel did not see any game action in 2019 and redshirted the year. With three scholarship quarterbacks in the mix, Gremel will be helping the team prepare for games on the scout team.
