The Big Ten conference announced some changes to their conference football schedule for 2022 on Wednesday afternoon. The Hoosiers have been impacted by some of these changes in both opponents and the dates IU plays opponents.

The biggest change is that IOU will no longer play Northwestern in the season opener, instead they will host Illinois for the first time since 2013.

Other changes include a change in open weeks. IU was originally slated to have their open week on October 15. That has changed to October 29th and the Hoosiers will now play Maryland on October 15th in Bloomington.

The Hoosiers will now host Michigan on October 8th instead of November 12th and they will travel to Ohio State on November 12th instead of October 29th.

The changes made were do to the imbalance created during the rescheduling of the 2020 Big Ten schedule. All of IU’s non-conference games will stay the same.
